Telcel users in Mexico can now enjoy Amazon Prime Video benefits as part of their Amigo Telcel top-ups. The mobile carrier has introduced a feature where specific top-up amounts include streaming access for movies and series, along with the convenience of free shipping on Amazon orders.
To access the service, customers must have an active line in Mexico and an Amazon account. The linking process only needs to be completed once to enable Prime features based on the chosen package.
There are two tiers available to users: Amazon Prime Basic and full Amazon Prime. The main difference between the two lies in the number of simultaneous screens allowed and the range of additional services included.
Package differences based on top-up amount
The Amazon Prime Basic package allows streaming on a single screen, specifically on a mobile device. This benefit is available for Amigo Telcel top-ups of 100, 150, 200, 300, and 500 pesos.
On the other hand, the full package allows for streaming on up to three screens simultaneously. This version also includes access to Amazon Music and Amazon Gaming. According to reports from xataka.com.mx, users who top up 270 and 400 pesos will receive this full-access tier.
Activating the service involves a simple three-step process after completing the top-up. First, the user will receive an SMS or an email containing a direct link to the official Telcel webpage.
Once the link is opened, the customer must enter their ten-digit phone number and click continue. Finally, they will need to log in to their Amazon account and accept the terms and conditions to finalize the link.
While the basic package is limited to one screen, users can still stream content from their mobile device to a Smart TV or Chromecast. The xataka.com.mx portal notes that for the basic package, content cannot be viewed if accessed directly through a TV app; therefore, using the smartphone as a bridge is the recommended technical workaround.
