Huawei has revealed the first details of its upcoming Pura 90 Pro and Pura 90 Pro Max smartphones, showcasing a significant leap in camera hardware and a nostalgic design shift, according to latercera.com.

The Chinese tech giant is preparing to launch the new series with a focus on high-resolution photography and a refined aesthetic that mirrors its classic models. The new lineup maintains the structural design of the Pura 80 series, specifically the prominent triangular camera module.

However, the hardware update includes a major jump in optical capability. Reports suggest the Pura 90 series may feature Huawei's first 200-megapixel main sensor, according to the outlet.

Nostalgic design and immersive displays

Beyond the hardware, Huawei is reintroducing gradient colors that recall the brand's iconic P20 Pro and P30 Pro devices. This aesthetic choice extends from the rear glass panel to the edges of the device, creating a continuous color transition.

The color palette differs between the two models. The Pura 90 Pro Max will arrive in five colors: Obsidian Black, Dawn Gold, Purple Sunset, Orange Ocean, and Emerald Lake. The Pura 90 Pro will feature four options: Mulberry Black, Coconut White, Orange Soda, and Pink Guava.

The front of the devices aims for maximum immersion. While official bezel dimensions are not yet public, early impressions indicate a near-borderless display, likely maintaining a 6.8-inch panel standard.

All imaging processes will continue to utilize XMAGE, Huawei's proprietary image processing technology. The company faces high performance expectations, as its predecessor, the Pura 80 Ultra, currently holds a top spot in the DXOMARK global photography rankings.

Huawei is scheduled to officially present the Pura 90 series in China on April 20. A global rollout is expected a few weeks later.

The new models are expected to arrive in Latin America in the following months. The region remains a primary market for the Pura line, particularly in Chile, Mexico, and Colombia.
