Capgemini leads discussions on AI and tech sovereignty at Davos meeting
The World Economic Forum in Davos

Global leaders from business, government, and civil society gathered in Davos, Switzerland, this January for the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF 2026). The meeting, held under the theme “A spirit of dialogue,” focused on finding solutions to pressing global challenges, according to a report from www.capgemini.com.

Capgemini, a strategic partner of the forum, participated in several high-level sessions focused on the integration of artificial intelligence and technology into the global economy. The company’s representatives advocated for a strategy described as: “To make it real with AI, technology and people.”

One primary session, co-led by Capgemini CEO Aiman Ezzat, addressed the current state of European technology. The discussion examined whether Europe’s tech sovereignty is feasible, noting that the continent is currently "punching below its weight in the global tech race" despite its strengths in the intelligent age.

The rise of the agent economy

Beyond sovereignty, the forum featured discussions on the emerging "agent economy." Capgemini CEO Aiman Ezzat sat down with Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian to explore how AI agents, trusted data, and open digital ecosystems are reshaping business agility and value.

Other sessions covered the convergence of different technologies and the role of AI in government. Capgemini’s Kary Bheemaiah joined industry leaders to discuss how technology convergence is reshaping various sectors. Meanwhile, Timo Graf von Koenigsmarck participated in a panel with officials from the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Global Government Technology Centre to unpack opportunities for "agentic AI" within the public sector.

Capgemini also highlighted breakthroughs in the bioeconomy. Experts including Dr. Cassandra Padbury and Dr. Basma AlBuhairan joined representatives from Regeneron and C4IR Saudi Arabia to discuss scientific advancements. The forum concluded with a focus on the multi-year advantages of building future-ready enterprises through long-term AI adoption, per the Capgemini report.
