The Investigative Police (PDI) successfully rescued a Peruvian woman who had been kidnapped last Wednesday in the Estación Central district. The victim was located this Thursday at a confinement site in Cerro Navia during an operation that resulted in the arrest of four suspects, according to latercera.com.
The incident occurred as the woman, a clothing merchant, was arriving at her home in Estación Central. At that moment, she was approached by a group of unidentified individuals traveling in a sedan.
Subprefect Hassel Barrientos, head of the Special Police Investigation Brigade (BIPE), detailed that the investigation was conducted in coordination with the Prosecution Service's Organized Crime and Homicide Team (ECOH).
“The Peruvian citizen, who is in a regular migratory status in our country, was intercepted by four individuals traveling in a car as she was arriving at her home,” Barrientos stated.
The criminals intimidated the victim and forced her into the vehicle to transport her to the western sector of Santiago. Through various investigative techniques, detectives were able to pinpoint the exact location where the woman was being held.
Arrests and weapons seized
Upon arriving at the confinement site in Cerro Navia, police officers found the victim in a state of shock. During the operation, authorities also managed to arrest the four individuals directly involved in the crime.
According to information provided by the PDI, the detainees include two Chilean citizens and two Venezuelan nationals. The group includes a 17-year-old with regular migratory status and an adult in an irregular migratory situation.
During the procedure, police seized a 9mm Versa-brand firearm with full ammunition. Additionally, officers found an air gun and other evidence related to the kidnapping.
The four suspects are scheduled for a detention hearing this Friday.
