Descifra Study Reveals Disconnect Between Ministers and Their Portfolios
Ministerial social media activity in Chile

The latest survey from the Copesa-Artool strategic alliance reveals a lack of coherence between the activity of ministers in José Antonio Kast’s government and their ministerial responsibilities. The study, conducted by the Descifra platform, shows that mentions in social media and news outlets do not relate to the specific subject matter of the portfolios they lead.

Descifra’s Executive Director, Camilo Fines, analyzed data collected from a review of cabinet members' digital activity. According to the report, several members of the administration fall into the so-called "death quadrant"—a space where media presence lacks any connection to public management.

Media presence lacking technical substance

The investigation delves into the gap between political communication and the technical management of each ministry. The findings suggest that ministers' digital agendas deviate from the core responsies of their roles.

The analysis also examines the struggles of figures such as Mara Sedini and Trinidad Steinert to maintain control over the news agenda. The study aims to identify which other cabinet members exhibit this same pattern of communicative disconnect.

Technical details of the survey and a breakdown of the affected ministers are available in the organization's audiovisual materials. Descifra's methodology allows for tracking the relationship between media discourse and the implementation of public policy.
