The Investigative Police (PDI) have arrested a 16-year-old student in Valparaíso after she was identified as being responsible for a series of threats made at the “María Franck de Mac Dougall” Girls' High School No. 1.
Detectives from the Valparaíso Criminal Investigation Brigade (Bicrim) launched an investigation after receiving formal complaints regarding intimidating messages found within the school.
Investigation and Procedure
After gathering evidence at the scene, authorities were able to link the minor to the threatening inscriptions. Subprefect Gabriela Pinto Ponce, deputy head of the Bicrim, confirmed that the threats were specifically aimed at the school community.
“A 16-year-old minor was responsible for making threatening inscriptions inside the premises, directed at the school community,” Subprefect Pinto Ponce stated.
Following the arrest, the duty prosecutor ordered the teenager's release, in accordance with the legal protocols established by the Public Prosecutor's Office for minors.
The PDI is keeping the investigation open to determine the full scope of these messages and will continue to investigate similar threats in other educational institutions. Authorities have reiterated their call for citizens to report any incidents that threaten the safety of school communities.
