Carabineros (Chilean National Police) have arrested a 15-year-old student in Labranza after he was caught carrying a blank-firing pistol and a knife at a school in Temuco. The minor, a student at Liceo San Roque in the Amanecer sector, was located at his residence following a report made by his teachers.

According to biobiochile.cl, school staff were the ones who flagged the situation and filed the official complaint with the police. By the time officers arrived at the school, the teenager had already left the premises.

The arrest took place at a home in the Labranza area, where police successfully seized both the knife and the blank-firing pistol. The weapon was found with six rounds loaded.

Investigation Underway

Lieutenant Colonel Felipe Pozo confirmed that the teenager was caught in the act of illegal possession of a knife and a blank-firing weapon. The officer noted that the minor has no prior criminal record with the police force.

The prosecutor's office has instructed Carabineros' specialized Labocar unit to conduct the necessary forensic examinations. The goal of these investigations is to determine the origin of the pistol and the source of the seized ammunition.

The 15-year-old remains in the custody of the Temuco Guarantee Court for a detention hearing. Meanwhile, Carabineros stated they will continue coordinating with educational institutions throughout the region to prevent similar security risks.
