The Israeli military's recent bombardment of Beirut, which targeted approximately one hundred locations within a ten-minute window, has triggered widespread chaos across Lebanon, according to Nadim Houryl, Executive Director of the Arab Reform Initiative.
Speaking to France 24, Houry described the intensity of the strikes, noting that "sheer terror rained from the sky" during the rapid-fire assault on the Lebanese capital.
Houry recounted being on the phone with colleagues as the strikes unfolded, witnessing the sudden escalation of violence.
A path to cessation
Houry argued that the military offensive against Lebanon does not require complex diplomacy to halt. He asserted that the attacks could stop immediately through a single decisive action from Washington.
"The attacks on Lebanon could stop immediately if Donald Trump called Benjamin Netanyahu to make clear that the US would no longer supply Israel with weapons," Houry said.
His comments suggest that American military assistance remains a critical lever in the ongoing regional conflict. The director's assessment places the responsibility for a potential ceasefire directly on the decision-making of the incoming US administration regarding arms transfers.
