US military forces killed two people Monday during a bombing of a vessel in the Eastern Pacific, according to the US Southern Command. The strike targeted a boat suspected of involvement in drug trafficking operations.

The attack is part of "Operation Southern Spear," a military campaign initiated by Washington in September 2025.

"The Southern Spear Joint Task Force carried out a lethal kinetic attack against a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations," the US Southern Command announced on social media.

The command stated that intelligence confirmed the vessel was navigating established drug trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific.

"Two narco-terrorists have died during the action," the Southern Command reported. The military confirmed that no US personnel were injured during the operation.

Rising death toll

This strike follows a similar operation conducted the previous day. That bombing killed five people and left one survivor.

General Francis Donovan, commander of the US Southern Command, is directing the current operations.

Since its launch in September 2025, Operation Southern Spear has resulted in 170 deaths across the Eastern Pacific and the Caribbean. The United Nations has denounced the operation, alleging that the campaign violates human rights.
