North Korea rejected U.S. accusations this Saturday that the regime constitutes a global cyber threat, labeling the claims as slanderous fabrications, according to a report by latercera.com.

The North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a sharp response to recent statements from Washington, asserting that the allegations are part of a 'historical hostile policy' directed toward Pyongyang.

A spokesperson for the ministry told the state-run KCNA news agency that the United States has made deliberate efforts to 'create a false narrative' about the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The official stated that the U.S. is using its government agencies and allied media outlets to promote the idea of a supposed cyber threat originating from the Asian nation.

According to the spokesperson, the U.S. narrative suggests that 'all fraudulent cyber activities occurring in the world are linked to us.' The North Korean official called this an unjustified attempt by the White House to spread a harmful perception within the international community.

U.S. hypocrisy alleged

The North Korean government also criticized the United States for presenting itself as a 'victim' of cyberattacks. Pyongyang argued that such a claim is 'completely incongruent' given the U.S. reputation as a global leader in information technology.

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs argued that Washington lacks the basis to make such accusations because it 'controls the global information technology infrastructure and carries out indiscriminate cyberattacks against other countries.'

'The creation of public opinion regarding a supposed “cyber threat” is an extension of the hostile policy of the United States toward the DPRK, repeated by its successive regimes,' the ministry spokesperson said.

'This is nothing more than absurd slander to tarnish the image of our country by spreading false information for political purposes,' the spokesperson added.

Regarding its official stance on digital spaces, North Korea maintained that it remains committed to protecting cyberspace, viewing it as a common heritage of all humanity.

The ministry rejected any attempts to use cyber issues as a tool to violate the sovereignty of other nations or interfere in their internal affairs.

'The DPRK will never tolerate attempts by hostile forces to become more brazen in various fields, including cyberspace,' the spokesperson concluded. The ministry vowed to adopt all necessary measures to defend state interests and protect the rights of its citizens.
