Myanmar's ruling military junta has moved Nobel Peace Prize laureate Aung San Suu Kyi to house arrest, according to a report from France 24.
The decision comes following an order from the head of the ruling junta, who is currently serving as the nation's acting president.
Previously, the former leader was being held at an undisclosed location. Under the new arrangement, she will serve the rest of her sentence under house arrest.
Shift in detention status
The move marks a change in the physical location of the detained leader, though her legal status remains unchanged. The outlet reported that the transition to house arrest follows the specific directive from the junta leader acting as president.
