Israeli military forces launched a series of airstrikes across Lebanon on Saturday, resulting in at least nine confirmed deaths in the south. According to reports from France 24, the operation included raids targeting a highway located near Beirut, shifting the theater of conflict outside of areas traditionally controlled by the Iran-backed militant group Hezbollah.

These strikes represent some of the most intense military activity since the implementation of a ceasefire three weeks ago. Despite the agreement, the region has seen little reprieve from daily exchanges of fire, particularly in southern Lebanon.

A fragile truce under pressure

The ongoing violence continues to undermine the three-week-old agreement between Israel and Hezbollah. While the ceasefire was intended to de-escalate tensions, the persistent daily engagement suggests that both parties remain locked in a cycle of combat that the current diplomatic arrangements have failed to suppress.

The strikes on Saturday mark a significant expansion of the operational range of the conflict. By targeting infrastructure near the Lebanese capital, the Israeli military has signaled that the geography of the war is not limited to the southern border regions.

As of Saturday, authorities in Lebanon were still assessing the full impact of the latest air raids. The situation remains volatile, with the ceasefire offering little protection from the ongoing aerial bombardment, as reported by France 24.
