The Israeli military killed Ali Yusuf Harshi, the personal secretary and nephew of Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem, in a bombing in Beirut on Thursday night.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a statement confirming the strike targeted the Beirut area. The military identified Harshi as a key figure responsible for managing and securing Qassem's office.

Israeli officials denied reports that Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem was killed in the operation, according to EFE.

Strikes expand across Lebanon

Beyond the Beirut strike, the Israeli military bombed two bridges over the Litani River in southern Lebanon. The IDF claimed Hezbollah used these crossings to transport weapons.

Israeli forces also targeted at least ten weapons warehouses belonging to the group. These strikes occurred despite a ceasefire agreement involving Iran that Lebanon was intended to be part of, according to Pakistani officials.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the IDF maintain that the ceasefire does not include Lebanon. Following the agreement's implementation on Wednesday, Israel launched a massive wave of bombings across the country, killing over 250 people.

Lebanese authorities report that the death toll from Israeli bombings and ground operations has surpassed 1,700.

Combat in southern Lebanon has claimed the lives of 12 Israeli soldiers. Hezbollah attacks also killed two civilians in northern Israel. Additionally, an Israeli tank error resulted in the death of a civilian in Misgav Am, located near the Lebanese border.
