Dolly Martínez, a former participant on the TLC reality series 'My 600-lb Life,' died in the United States this past weekend at the age of 30. Her family has not yet released a cause of death.

Martínez gained international recognition during season 10 of the program, which aired between November 2021 and February 2022. Her journey documented her intense struggle with weight and the physical and mental health challenges that accompanied it.

Her sister, Lindsey Cooper, confirmed the news via a Facebook post. Cooper described Martínez as a person who could brighten any room with her presence.

“It is with a broken heart that I share the passing of my beautiful sister, Dolly,” Cooper wrote. “Dolly had the brightest personality, she could light up any room with her laughter, her kindness, and her loving spirit.”

Struggles with weight and health

During her time on the show, Martínez traveled to Fort Worth, Texas, to seek treatment from Dr. Nowzaradan. The episode detailed her efforts to manage her health while navigating significant mental health hurdles.

While Martínez successfully lost 40 pounds during the filming process, she ultimately fell short of the requirements necessary to proceed with weight-loss surgery.

Cooper noted that she finds comfort in the belief that Martínez is now reunited with their father. "Her warmth will remain with us forever," Cooper added in her tribute.

No further details regarding the circumstances of her death have been made available to the public.
