Midfielder Marcelo Díaz delivered an emotional tribute to Michael Clark during the executive's farewell to the staff at Universidad de Chile. The veteran player spoke at the club's training center (CDA) following Clark's announcement that he will no longer lead Azul Azul, the company managing the sports institution.
Addressing the departing official, Díaz referenced Clark's early mission to stabilize the club's operations. "I always remember some words you said at the beginning of taking charge, which was to order the house," Díaz said, according to reports from biobiochile.cl.
Following up on that sentiment, the player expressed confidence in the progress made during Clark's tenure. "And I believe the house has been ordered," Díaz stated.
A period of stabilization
Díaz highlighted that the club has seen progress in both its financial standing and its competitive performance. "As you say, economically and sportingly speaking, we have returned Universidad de Chile to where it deserves to be, and we must continue building this even higher," the player added.
The departure of Clark occurs during a transitional period for the club's administration. While a new election process is being planned, Cecilia Pérez has stepped in as interim president of the institution.
Reports indicate that Pérez is a leading candidate for the permanent presidency. Other names currently circulating within the club's headquarters include lawyer José Ramón Correa.
