American rapper Kanye West has announced the postponement of an upcoming concert in Marseille, France, "until further notice," according to bbc.com.
The rapper, who now goes by the name Ye, shared the decision in a post on X during the early hours of Wednesday.
"After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice," West wrote.
In a follow-up statement, he told fans, "I know it takes time to understand the sincerity of my commitment to make amends. I take full responsibility for what's mine but I don't want to put my fans in the middle of it."
The cancellation follows the recent cancellation of the Wireless Festival in London, where West was scheduled to headline.
The UK Home Office told the BBC that the rapper's application for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) was refused.
Officials stated the decision was made because West's presence would not be conducive to the public good.
French government considers ban
French media reports suggest Interior Minister Laurent Nunez was looking to ban the June 11 gig in Marseille.
An unnamed source close to Nunez told the AFP news agency that the minister was "highly determined" to prohibit the event.
AFP reported that Nunez was exploring "all possibilities" to stop the performance, though the government provided no further specifics.
The postponement leaves the status of West's remaining European tour dates uncertain.
As of Wednesday, his official website still lists performances in Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and Portugal for the summer.
West has faced significant backlash in recent years for a series of antisemitic, racist, and pro-Nazi comments.
In 2022, he posted on social media that he would go "death con 3 On Jewish people" and later praised Adolf Hitler during a podcast appearance with Alex Jones.
In a January statement published in the Wall Street Journal, West attempted to apologize, stating, "I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. I love Jewish people."
He attributed his previous actions to losing touch with reality due to his bipolar disorder.
