Bantam Books has officially denied viral social media reports claiming that George R.R. Martin has completed writing 'The Winds of Winter.'
Recent posts circulating on platforms like X, formerly Twitter, suggested an announcement was imminent for the next installment of the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' saga. The publisher clarified to Entertainment Weekly that these rumors are unfounded.
“The comments that are being posted on the internet regarding a supposed leak are false,” Bantam Books told Entertainment Weekly, according to reports from biobiochile.cl.
A long wait for Westeros
Fans have been waiting 15 years for the release of 'The Winds of Winter.' Martin's previous entry in the series, 'A Dance with Dragons,' was published in 2011.
While the author is working on the upcoming volume, it will not be the conclusion of the series. A subsequent book titled 'The Dream of Spring' is also planned for the saga.
Martin has not provided a specific release date for 'The Winds of Winter.' In a 2025 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the author noted that finishing the book is his priority, though he admitted to facing significant difficulties in making progress.
The literary series gained massive global popularity through the HBO adaptation 'Game of Thrones.' However, the television show only adapted the books up to the fifth season, meaning the conclusion of the novels may diverge from the series finale.
