Diego Valdés struggled with missed opportunities during Vélez Sarsfield's 1-0 victory against Central Córdoba, despite the team securing all three points. The Chilean midfielder played a central role in several high-stakes moments that went wrong during the match.

Vélez Sarsfield secured the win through an 11th-minute goal by Joaquín García. However, the performance was marred by a series of uncharacteristic errors from the attacking line, according to reports from La Tercera.

Valdés missed a prime opportunity in the 25th minute. After goalkeeper Tobías Andrada set up Matías Pellegrini, the ball was played toward the Chilean midfielder in a wide-open position.

Valdés attempted a first-time left-footed shot, but sent the ball over the crossbar. The miss left his teammates visibly frustrated on the pitch.

A second costly error

The frustration continued late in the first half when Dilan Godoy missed another clear chance. The play began with a counterattack involving Valdés, who successfully bypassed a defender on the right flank.

Valdés delivered a precise pass to the far post, leaving the 20-year-old attacker alone in the small area. With the goalkeeper positioned at the opposite post, Godoy had a wide-open net.

Godoy's left-footed finish went wide of the target. The error prompted an immediate reaction from the player, who fell to his knees in disbelief.

Central Córdoba goalkeeper Alan Aguerre provided a strong performance despite the loss. His multiple saves kept the scoreline close, offsetting the frequent missed opportunities by the Vélez offense.
