Argentine footballer Emiliano Endrizzi has been charged with public intimidation following a bomb threat made during a Flybondi flight traveling to Buenos Aires. The incident, which occurred while Endrizzi was traveling with the Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy squad, forced the evacuation of the aircraft and triggered emergency airport security protocols.
Federal Prosecutor Sebastián Jure presented the charges before Judge Eduardo Hansen during a formalization hearing on Monday. The prosecution alleges that Endrizzi committed public intimidation in conjunction with an attack on the security of transport and communication methods.
According to reports from TN and El Informante, the player claimed a passenger was carrying an explosive device. The claim led to the immediate suspension of flight operations and the activation of high-level security measures at the airport.
Judicial restrictions
Despite the severity of the accusations, the court ordered Endrizzi's release subject to several restrictive measures. The athlete is prohibited from leaving Argentina without prior judicial authorization and must report to the Federal Police every week.
Endrizzi must also notify authorities of any change in his residential address while the investigation proceeds. The court's decision allows the player to remain free while the federal prosecutor's office builds its case.
Prosecutor Jure criticized the player's actions, stating that the behavior was sufficient to disrupt air services and cause public alarm. He emphasized that making a bomb threat on an aircraft creates significant operational and passenger safety risks.
The Public Ministry maintains that there is sufficient evidence to support the criminal charges. The investigation continues to determine the full extent of the disruption caused to the airline's operations.
